Quilt CARE

I craft with care so you don’t have to - care that is. Even so, there are a few simple things you can do to lengthen the life of your heirloom goods.

  • Avoid direct sunlight to keep colors vibrant

  • Avoid moisture, store in a dry place - that doesn't mean hidden in a closet

  • Avoid leaving your treasure home alone with curious pets

CLEANING

Your quilt will last longer if it's hand washed and line dried. Most quilts can however withstand repeated laundering - especially if the product was machine quilted. I recommend a cold machine wash on gentle and low dry heat. I prefer the fresh out the dryer warmth and crinkles, but it can also be ironed if you like a smooth quilt. Happy snuggling.

PATCHING

Wear and tear happens. Our dog Ole eat a hole right through my first bedspread! All products come with patch kits, extra matching fabric, to help you in event you’ll need to patch parts. There’s lots of mending tutorials out there - The Far Woods sister duo have my favorite.

MASK CARE

Thank you for choosing to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community by wearing a mask.

  • Wash your hands before putting your mask on and after taking mask off.

  • Actively practice not touching your face while wearing. Just don’t. Remove by touching the elastic ear pieces only. As Shieva Ghofrany, MD. said best: masks give us a false sense of security. She has a great video for mask etiquette here.

  • Wear your face mask when out in public - especially in places where it may be difficult to maintain 6-foot distance (like grocery shopping).

Wash your mask after every public use. They are machine washable and dryable. However, please don't freak out if it comes out of the laundry looking like this (above left) - a crumpled up piece of paper.

Like anything handmade it will react much better with infrequent hand washing and air drying (below right). I encourage you to treat like your delicates, they have straps and wires that are easily caught on other laundered items.

I've been laundering mine on delicate cycle, in a garment bag and air drying flat. I find its most comfortable to press with an iron and steam the pleats back into place prior to wearing again.
